WAQ (Karaites) Podcast #2 | Should the Sanhedrin Ever Exist Again? | A Discussion with Tanach-Only Jew Israel Horowitz
Join us for a lively discussion between Hakham Melech Rahmiel Ben Ya’aqov and Tanach-only Jew Israel Horowitz as we discuss whether there is any Biblical evidence for the existence of a Sanhedrin in ancient (First Temple) Israel, and the implications this has for efforts to reinstate the Sanhedrin in modern times.
Israel Horowitz was raised in an Orthodox Jewish family and eventually gained his ordination as an Orthodox Rabbi. Eventually, he left the Orthodox community, and rejected the "oral law" of the Rabbis. Israel has gained a large following as one of the up-and-coming teachers active in promoting the Tanach-only approach to understanding Torah.
Recorded live on Friday 17 April 2026.

Biblical Calendar Society (BCS) - New Moon Report - Friday 20 March 2026 - First Biblical Month & New Year
➠ The new moon WAS SIGHTED in Israel on the evening of Friday 20 March 2026 by various observers around Israel, including by Melech Rahmiel ben Ya'aqov, from Qatzrin in the Golan Heights.
➠ Even if the new moon had not been spotted, Hodesh (New Moon Day) would have been declared nonetheless, since Friday 20 March 2026 was 30 days since the previous new moon was sighted, and no two visible new moons can be separated by more than 30 days.
AVIV BARLEY ➠ Previous to 20 March, Aviv (almost ripe) barley was found in the land of Israel, thereby marking this month the First Month of the New Biblical Year, and marking 20 March 2026 as the true Rosh HaShannah, (Biblical) New Year's Day.
